The Colors of New York (2019)

photography/editorial

The Colors of New York was a spontaneous photojournal that I created on a trip to New York with my pops. This journal took just over six days. We had arrived to The Big Apple around 1am and felt like checking out Times Square. Although there were not too many people there, we were still talking about how much the people contribute to the attraction of this tourist destination. Without the foot traffic, Time’s Square would not have the impact it does. From that night on, I made it a point to capture the true colors of New York, the people.

Each day, I chose a new color. Imagine going about your day only looking for one specific color or theme. The amount of focus I developed in six days was something I had never experienced before and it allowed me to absorb my environment in such a unique way each day.

About three months later, I was asked by the gallery director at the Brandstater Gallery to present my photography in the space. This was my first solo show. An amazing experience I will never forget and it was so amazing to see so people come and enjoy my work.
